Starting from a classic abat-jour silhouette and playing with it: disassembling it in plain sections, shuffling and putting them back in order, creating and defining light gaps. It's an ever-changing object with an innate architectural nature. A simple figure, an idea, a lamp that illuminates and inspires creativity.
The Babele Lamp, designed by MID, stands out with its unique properties. Made from CNC cut maple blockboard and a methacrylate opalescent pipe, it offers a new perspective on lighting. The wooden sections are completely movable, allowing the user to decide the shape of the lamp. They can be re-assembled in any order and direction, giving the user the freedom to create their desired lighting effect.
Interaction is key in the Babele Lamp. The whole concept is based upon the evolving figure of the lamp and the opportunity it offers to play with its outline. The user can decide whether to have a more diffused or direct light by adjusting the position of the wooden sections. This lamp truly puts the user in control of their lighting experience.
The Babele Lamp measures 280 mm x 280 mm x 505 mm, making it a versatile and compact lighting solution for any space. Its architectural nature and innovative design make it a standout piece in any room.
The Babele Lamp was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2014. This prestigious award recognizes the lamp's outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. It showcases the lamp's strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, leaving viewers with feelings of amazement and wonder.
